What Is Air Abrasion?
Air abrasion is a minimally invasive dental technique that uses a stream of fine particles to gently remove decay from the tooth surface. It is like a high-tech mini sandblaster for your teeth, without the vibration, noise, or heat of a traditional drill.
Instead of using a metal drill, air abrasion sprays a controlled flow of fine particles—usually aluminum oxide—onto the affected area. These particles gently wear away the decayed part of the tooth, while a suction system clears away debris as we go.
