What Are Porcelain Inlays & Onlays?
Porcelain inlays and onlays are tooth-colored restorations used to repair moderate damage or decay. The main difference between inlays and onlays is where they’re placed:
- Inlays fit inside the grooves of your tooth (between the cusps)
- Onlays cover one or more cusps of the tooth and extend over the biting surface
Each one is made from strong, stain-resistant porcelain and bonded to your tooth for a secure and natural-looking fit. They’re ideal for patients who want a longer-lasting, more attractive alternative to metal fillings.
